Ellie had been through a lot of unhuman treatment. Ellie wasnt closed to his dad. After the Holocaust had started they begin to get closer, there understood eachothers pain. People in the Holocaust who had family, lost them all. Ellie had been beat up for no reason. He suffered through bad treatment and hungery but most of all sadness, he felt anger agains his enemy, anger, revenge. He wanted to scream but he couldnt. He could seen his dad in pain and treated badly. He remembers real good how his dad died. He will always remember his family. Before his dad died his father told him where he had burried his gold and important stuff.
I honestly loved this book. This book made me think of many things. For example "us" we have food to waste, In there times they would suffer to get a bread or plate of soup. Ellie had to work hard, the part where he talks about his dad is what makes me sad, I would never want to go through that with my father. He loved his family a lot. It makes me think how we should appriciate the things are parents do for us. Appriciate the people around us and the things that happen to us.
