“My father was a cluttered man, rather unsentimental. He rarely displayed his feelings” (Wiesel 4) Ellie’s father died; when he died nothing was the same. They lost faith in god! Ellie and his father wondered “where was the god they prayed too”. They wondered why this happening to them was where they went wrong. The Jews were the chosen ones from god.
Wiesel’s probabilities of surviving increased having his father by him side.
Ellie and his father would help support each other. “I kept walking, my father father holding his hand” (Wiesel 29) Ellie remembers him and his dad holding hands, He misses old times when everything was okay. Where is God? Where is he’s mercy? Everyone wondered where was this God that they prayed to, they lost there faith on him. At times they would pray asking for forgiveness and than asking again was why this happening to them.
Eli had never seen his dad so sad and weak. “My father was crying. I was the first time, I saw him crying. I was the thought it possible.” (Wiesel 19) Ellie feels weak and sad too, he feels like fighting more and more. This quote helps us understand how every thing changed. Ellie wanted to do something for his father; he couldn’t if he defends him they would kill him, in the camp everyone worried about there own life. Except him he worried about his father too , but it was hard for him to get his anger out he kept it inside and wanted revenge but he thought about what the bible said to not hate others.
“I pray to the god within me for the strength to ask him the real question” (Wiesel 5) My point in this is to appreciate, love, and care about others because we never know what could happen to each other. This problem helped them get closer and they became closer than ever because they didn’t have his little sister or mother. They cared for each other. They both learned though it was a prove that they had with God who was loyal and who wasn’t. No matter how much they would ask god why all this happening to them was, they still prayed for forgiveness and protection.
Elli appreciated his dad at the end, he loved him. He felt lonely once his dad died; his dad was the only thing he had left. His father left him beautiful words and he had buried in his backyard house for Ellie. That was his last words to use those useful things for himself.
